Professor of Sociology at University of Burdwan, with First-Class First in M.A. from University of Kalyani and a Ph.D. from Jadavpur University (first doctorate in the department). His doctoral work examined health hazards and cancer patient care.

He introduced Medical Sociology as a pioneering Master’s-level elective in West Bengal and contributed significantly to curriculum development in Guidance & Counseling and Women’s Studies. He has over 70 publications and has presented at leading national and international forums, including the University of Manchester.​He is a supervised Ph.D. scholars (three awarded) and is widely associated with major universities in West Bengal. He currently holds additional administrative charge at University of Burdwan, overseeing PG Faculty Council operations under NEP 2020, contributing to academic governance and institutional development.
